Push Script via Smart Label

Hi guys,

I am pushing a piece of software (IE Plugin) via a script, as I have to run it as "Current User" and not local system, so I can't use a managed install.

I've created a smart label for this, that's attaching to about 108 computers. However, it looks like the script is never actually installing or pushing.

Can you push scripts via smart labels? or is what I'm doing not going to work?

I was hoping to push it this way, that way if we ever image/re-image a machine, it will know to install the app. I couldn't seem to find a way to install the app as current user via managed install.

  • Yes, you can target a smart label with a script. What is your script schedule configuration? - chucksteel 6 years ago
    • Right now it is set to "none"..

      Is that why? All of our scripts are set to that, as we only run them from the "Run Now" menu.

      If I change the schedule to something like weekly/daily at 2pm - will it only target the smart labels at that time? Just making sure it won't affect all devices, only the ones attached to the smart label.

      • Yes, it will only run on computers that have the label assigned when the script is run. Just to verify, in the Deploy section of the script under labels, you have the smart label selected? - chucksteel 6 years ago
  • Correct - under the deploy section > labels.. I have the label attached. There's no devices added and all devices is not checked.

Need to have a schedule set on the script to allow it to run.

I just tested it with my smart label and it is now pushing succesfully.
