qn+ Command Line When Non-Interactive
One of the (Altiris) deployment team asked if he could have a dialog box popping up at the end of the package installs for all new packages. Imagine his surprise when I told him yes, and he can have it for all the old apps (apart from Adobe CS and Office 2010 products) too. And so qn+ has been adopted.
Unfortunately if a user doesn't click ok, and just logs off instead, a different (failure) error code is returned. Not a massive deal but what's more worrying is that when there's no interactive session running (under the Altiris service account, deploying remotely with no user logged in) a similar scenario occurs, and we can't cue up installs as msiexec.exe doesn't terminate sucessfully - in fact unless a reboot occurs in that scenario, it doesn't terminate at all.
Has anyone worked with this more effectively or are we going to have to review the qn+ decision and script our own user notifications?
