Realplayer SP 1.1.5 Build 12.0.0.879
Hi Guys,
Long time reader, first time poster so please be gentile....
I'm trying to package the latest version of Realplayer.
Looking at the Packaging DB, it tells me that its a native MSI.
When I run the EXE, it extracts a folder to %TEMP% directory but there isn't an MSI to be found.
Is there something that I am doing wrong?
Cheers

I tried switches that were supposed to work with .exe from earlier version ( /qb /quiet /norestart /S ). They were essentially ignored by the installer. Have not located .msi.
Anyone made any progress on this? Would like to deploy using Altiris. Can make reg and other customizations with subsequent tasks within the Altiris job.
Would prefer to locate .msi and create transform, but if I can just get it to silently install using .exe I'd be thrilled.

Well, first off, Realplayer is evil and programmed by the devil so avoid it at all costs.
Secondly, if you are really desperate try ProcMon... you will have to shift through tons of info but I guarentee you will find the .msi if there is one.
Thirdly, are you looking under "%username%\Local Settings\" as well.. sometimes installers will place stuff there as well.

Hi John,
Realplayer is and was never a MSI-package!
If you install it only to play Real-Files, i would strongly advise you to switch to RealAlternative.
We dropped Realplayer years ago and had not a single complaint about it.
If you really want to repack it to an MSI, see the package KB entry for V10.
Regards, Nick
