Repackaging with WiX
From 2003-2005 I did AdminStudio packaging / repackaging in an SMS environment. From 2005-2011 I went back to build release setup development in very ISV environments.
Over the last few years I've come up with ways of blending InstallShield and WiX to get really good code reuse. Basically a framework that allowed for composing hundreds of installers using a single Basic MSI project with WiX XML files and automation interface calls to join it all up at build time.
I now find myself going back to packaging/repackaging environment and I'm wondering how much of the above I can leverage. Has anyone done anything similar or are you basically still using repackager tools out of the box?
I'll be doing mostly server side automation so I'm not sure how much application virtualization will come into play.
