"Save Application" state in memory during update through .msi?
Hello,
Recently I've noticed that Windows Update magically restored my applications after a restart: browser with all the tabs, skype, media players and I began to wonder if there is such functionality in windows installer or does it require heavy custom development?
Scenario:
I have app.exe. I'm doing an .msi installation and there is a new version of that file. I want the app restarted and all the data saved without having to reboot the PC.
Can you please share your experience?
I really hope we will go farther than a link to "Using Windows Installer with Restart Manager" http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/windows/desktop/aa372466(v=vs.85).aspx
