Silent install ESET Smart Security 8 without download new upgrade

Hello,

i just downloaded ESS 8 msi package , then with this command "ess8.msi /qn" installation work like a charm without any error but the problem is in ESS 8 , there is a checkbox to download new upgrade exactly in the main of installation and its checked by default. then how to do silent install without download new upgrade ? is there any additional parameter ?

Open the MSI in your favoured table editor. Look in the 'Control' table and find the relevant dialog name. Then find the check-box in question. In that row, you'll find a public property (recognised, as you know, by being in all upper-case). Setting that property to 0, or removing it, in a transform should be all you need to do. Some vendors like to "hide" Custom Actions" that set properties during the installation so check that by executing the MSI+MST in a VM or on a sacrificial workstation.

  • @VBScab , sorry due to la te reply , i use superorca , then do as what you say but unfortunatelly it just change the gui only , yes the checkbox is unchecked but the feature still download new version. then with a little bit experiment , i found CHECK_NEW_VERSION property , i just change it to 0 and it work like a charm , also i put some modification to eset to be able manual update , by default it need license. and put modificiation about interface , i can say superorca is more like PE Editor or Reshack but it design special for MSI package. so VBScab you are fucking awesome , thank you very much. - dark cyber 10 years ago
