SMS 2003 SP1 & Win XP SP2
When I had Win XP SP1 on my laptop and SMS 2003 installed on Server 2003 I could use SMS admin console. I upgraded to Win XP SP2 and could still run the Admin console from my laptop. I have now upgraded SMS 2003 to SP1 and although I can open my site database, if I try to drill down any further to say Site Hierarchy or collections - or anything really - all I see is an hour glass.
Has anyone cured this yet or do I need to role back one (or both) service packs?
Thanks

I am having the exact problem. Running WinXP SP2 with SMS2003 SP1. I cannot navigate lower then the Site database level. I found this message in the Server APP logs.
Event Type: Error
Event Source: WinMgmt
Event Category: None
Event ID: 30
Date: 11/2/2004
Time: 11:13:09 AM
User: N/A
Computer: SERVERNAME
Description:
A WMI/WBEM client executed an asynchronous operation and failed to return from its implementation of IWbemObjectSink.
Were you able to resolve this problem? If so would you mind sharing what you did.
Thanks.

Check out http://www.microsoft.com/technet/prodtechnol/sms/sms2003/techfaq/tfaq03.mspx
The very last question contains a fix for the problem with SP2 breaking the console. MS says they can't reproduce the problem, but in our shop I believe it is happening because we don't have AD and I am told MS doesn't even test against NT4 domains any more... Anyway, I did the DCOM permissions tweak they recommend and got my console working again.

I had this problem some tima ago.
When you upgrade SMS 2003 to SP1 and you have a local console installed on a client you have to update (reinstall) that too.
The old console doesn't work with SP1.
