uninstall adobe reader and install acrobat pro 6 via GPO
hi all,
we have just purchased a large # of adobe pro 6 licenses and are wanting to roll it out via GP. Before installing pro 6, I am wanting to remove the reader.
All methods have been tried as a published msi package in the GPO
I have tried numerous methods, and all have been left as failures.
1. Wrote a custom action vbs, to invoke the uninstall of reader with immediate execution.
Result: This works fine if you are logged on as someone with administrative rights, but as soon as you logon as a general user, the uninstall is invoked however soon after we receive an error that administrative privileges are required.
2. Used a custom action to call the msi exe with immediate execution.
Result: the same result occurs as method 1
3. Used a custom action to call the msi exe with deferred execution and run as system context.
Result: This fails with an error, stating that an msi is currently running, please finish the current running msi before calling the uninstall.
Can anyone see any problems with my above methods I have tried?
I am fast running out of options to try.
Has anyone ever successfully performed this or similar before with GP?
Thankyou in advance.
Cheers,
Tom.
