Users and Associated Devices

I currently have an asset as both a subtype and as a main asset to test out.

In example, Cell Phone > Cell123 as the Asset Type and then Device > Cell Phone > Cell123 as a subtype.

I have assigned both the Asset Type and Asset Subtype to the same user.

I noticed that for the Asset Type: The Assigned To is assigned to "Mary", this shows up under the user's associated devices section.

Now when I do this with the asset as a subtype and set the same user under the Assigned To section, the device does not show up under the user's associated devices section.

My current workaround is to create a User section and then it will show up under the user's associated devices section.  My only issue with this is that now I have to assign the user twice. I would like to have the device as a subtype and just assign the device once. I am hoping this is an easy fix.

Logically you are correct, one would assume that a device subtype would have identical functionality, however, as a heavy user of the asset portion within the SMA I have learned not to assume anything.

I would suggest you log it as a support ticket and see if the product team have overlooked something, otherwise your workaround is the best way to handle the situation.
