Veritas WinInstall small MSI

I am using WinInstall from the Windows2000 Server CD and have followed the Step-byStep Guide from Microsoft's TechNet. I don't recieve any errors durring either snapshot or application install, but the MSI file contains only a few registry entries. It does not create any other files. I am installing an application called Datatel on a clean Windows XP SP2 system. Any suggestions?

Are you saying that the MSI that WinInstall has created is missing files? If this is so, how is the application working? Are you sure it is a totally clean XP build or could this software have been installed at some point in the past.

The package is missing all the files for the application. I am not able to install the application with the MSI file. The application installed/worked inbetween snapshots. I created a new VM and installed Windows XP from the CD.

I've tried WinINSTALL LE from the Win2K disc myself and it seems ok. However, I seem to recall seeing a similar problem in the past.

I would recommend that you download WinINSTALL LE 2003 from www.ondemandsoftware.com and retry the package and see if this makes any difference. I believe there are quite a few changes with this version.
