Wacom pen tablet driver silent installation

Hi,

We have a room of PCs here (I work at a college) which require the Wacom pen tablet driver (v. 5.08). The drivers come packaged on a disc from Bamboo (which is the manufacturer). Given the number of computers, I would like to deploy this across the network and would like to do so silently. However, I am having problems.

The drivers are packaged in executable called Install.exe and I have not been able to successfully extract its contents so far. I've tried running the installation and looking in my temp folders (C:\Temp as well as the temporary folder in my user profile), but nothing has materialised. I've tried using 7Zip (which we deploy here) to extract the package contents, but this, bizarrely left me with a folder of Mac files (the CD has installations for both Windows and Mac).

Running the Install.exe with the usual silent switches makes no difference either as the application just launches the front-end regardless. I would therefore be grateful for anyone's advice on extracting the setup so I can install deploy this silently.

I've noticed there are a number of posts here in the KB related to Wacom pen drivers, but most of these links are dead and go to blank pages and the only one that worked was for a much older version of the software, so the supplied information was not really applicable.

Again, I would be grateful for any advice on this.

Thank you.

Hi asimmonds,

The Package KB entry for the Wacom tablet driver mentions this:
For PenTablet_505-7 click the exe, then accept setup to start the installation.
The files will extract to %USERPROFILE%\local settings\temp\1\WZSE0.TMP

Copy this content to your installation point.
Run Setup.exe /S to invoke silent installation

I just downloaded the latest version (which is cons524-5_int.exe) and the above still (more or less) applies to this:

- Start the downloaded exe (have it extract and don't close anything when the first installation dialogs pop up);
- Go to %temp%\WZSE0.TMP and copy this folder to some place safe;
- Close the running setup when copying is done;
- From the WZSE0.TMP folder, the Setup.exe can be run silently with the /s switch.

Principle described by Rheuvel still works with driver version 6.3.11-4:
- extract downloaded WacomTablet_6.3.11-4a.exe using 7-ZIP to directory WacomTablet_6.3.11-4a
- inside that directory you created you will find Setup.exe (and other files and directories)
- run Setup.exe wuth the /s switch

Thanks, Rheuvel!

The folder I found this in on version 6.3.15-1 was under %temp%\RarSFX0, ran the Setup.exe /s and seems to of installed correctly.  Will do testing with the tablet to verify it installed correctly.

as of 6.3.29 you can just use the executable with the /S switch.

E.G. "WacomTablet_6.3.29-3.exe /S"
