Why can i install APP-V package 5.1 without client ?
Hello,
I have a question, we are migrating App V client from 4.6 to 5.1 on Windows 7 only.
So we made some tests before to go :
- install both version and try each version (migration mode = 1)
- then uninstall old version and let the update
No management server, install with .msi package standalone made with APP V Sequencer 5.1.
But after testing, i was surprised because i can install the msi without appv client 5.1 or appv client anymore, and the package works perfectly.
I made search but the only things i find is that i need a client, but why this is working ?
Does anyone have the answer ? Maybe registry key still there ?

Anyone else has a clude to resolve this mistery ?
I really made this package by using Microsoft App V Sequencer 5.1. If i made a mistake during the sequence, i have to correct it but i have no idea what it could be. I have a folder with :
- *.appv
- *.msi
- *_DeploymentConfig.xml
- *_UserConfig.xml
I use the msi in Windows 7 and no error appears, install is correct and functional.
On an other hand, Is there a way to uninstall appv client 4.6 and all package in without having to check what package is installed ?
If i uninstall app-v client 4.6, the app-v 4.6 packages still there and cannot be uninstalled. I have to reinstall client in order to uninstall package, it's not really simple.
EDIT 27/03 :
I found registry key :
HKLM\SOFTWARE\WOW6432Node\Microsoft\APPV
And after checking again, client was really installed on computer : version 5.1.86.0
When i deleted it, I can't install package, it's working.
Sorry for the inconvenient and thanks for trying to help :)
