Windows 10 Migration

We are preparing to migrate our Windows 7/8/8.1 to Windows 10.  We are going to be using K2000 SDA.  I want to make this as automated as possible with no issues.  How has everyone been handling migrating to Windows 10?  Also, I would like to Distribute Ultra VNC beforehand and I have tried numerous things and I can't seem to get this to work.  Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

The easiest way can be found in this blog:

To be honest:
I would do a full reinstallation of a LTS so you don't need to do this all 6 month.
1. Collect the USMT
2. Deploy the new OS (image/scripted install)
3. deploy USMT

  • Good deal. I'm on the right track then. Is there a way that we can scan the USMT on a schedule instead of scanning 250 computers manually? - abratton 6 years ago
    • I believe that is not possible...

Unless you are willing to store those 250 profiles into the KACE SDA hard drive. - Channeler 6 years ago
      • Have you ever used the Scan User States Offline that is built in? The way I'm understanding that is Kace will scan the user profiles before it formats the disk and installs the OS. - abratton 6 years ago
      • Yes, but that can be used on a schedule... I mean you could schedule a whole deployment via automated deployments that will include those tasks, and they will grab the profile via USMT , then format the drive, then install windows or your image - Channeler 6 years ago
    • you can use the built in USMT scanner as a pre install task (the first one obviously ;) ) and deploy the user state as a mid level task then - Nico_K 6 years ago
