Wise Studio - Newb Questions - 'Empty folders' won't delete

I have a few basic questions about Wise Package Studio. I'm fairly new at this (if you hadn't guessed), but I think i'm making some headway (maybe not - been a long day).

My biggest problem at this point is that Wise Installer persists on making empty directories when I don't want it to. I do not understand why when I'm looking at the 'Files' tree in Installation Expert, I cannot remove empty directories.

I understand I can do the 'hide empty directories' - but why are they there? Why when I delete them do they not go away?

Any advice on the issue would be appreciated.

(For what it's worth, I did try deleting the folder references from the tables view, but that resulted in a very non-functional msi).

Hi , I dont know you skills in Wise, but go to Installation experts, Tables, Create directory - each line here specifies which folder to be created during installation. to understand what happans here you must understand the table Directory.
I hope this helps you??

Hy Drgnfyre

The table that is responsible for creating empty folders is called 'CreateFolder'.
You get an even better view when you change from Installation Expert to Setup Editor, Features and then expand all options. This gives you very nice overview of what happens during the msi installation

Thanks for all the responses!!

Fetgor & Roland - I did find the 'CreateFolder' item and it was indeed creating the directory in question. I had seen that before, but had tried to delete it from the wrong side. :) I blame 6 hours of fighting vmware and other frustrations. :)

Wildhair - Thanks a million - that helps me to understand that most of those empty folders are for 'reference' only. I could not get my head around WHY it kept insisting on putting those directories in my list, etc.

I did indeed find the empty directory it was creating in the folder list in Installation Expert - the other contributing factor to my frustration was it would let me click 'delete' and act like it removed the folder, but then it would immediately put it back. :( Clearing it out of 'createfolder' made it go away forever.

Thanks again, guys.
