I use the below script to deploy MDL Autonom 2000 v4.0 SP2 over AD with a GPO. This addon to ISIS/Draw and Base, has been said it will support native msi-deployment with the next release any year now for the last five years... In the meantime, while MDL gets their stuff together, this is AFAIK the only way to deploy this software in a multiuser- and multicomputer-environment.
The exe-installer is a regular Installshield-package, so for starters you need to record an answer-file as with any Installshield-install, in order to do a silent install later.
Run the installer on a computer like this:
Autonom2000AddIn.exe -r
Click through the wizard and set it up as you wish it. When finished, collect the setup.iss-file from %windir%. Copy this file together with the original installer exe-file to yor admin-share.
Create a cmd-file, copy'n'paste the bit between the "---" and put it in the same folder as the above files. Create a GPO and point it to the cmd-file you just created, and you're done.
The last line in the script will delete the log file created in the admin-share. Keep it if you need it, or add another line to the script to rename it to something that includes "computername% for easier troubleshooting.
This script has been tested and found to be working on WinXP SP2, WinXP x64 SP2 and Win2k SP4.
Switch-description for the installer-script:
/s = silent install.
/sms = won't quit/close the install window until the install is done.
/f1<folder> = tell the installer to use the created answer-file. Make sure there is no space between /f1 and the path.
