These instructions apply to the CLP (enterprise/volume licensing) software. You could use some of this to deploy a retail version, however, good luck dealing with the registration problems
Get your source
+ Clean your “local settings\temp” directory in your profile and leave open
+ Open a window to “%windir%\Downloaded Installations”
+ Run the clp .exe (Flash8_UE_RET.exe, you probably had to download from the clp site)
+ It will re-extract itself and run itself from “c:\Flash_Professional_8”
+ Once the .exe is done extracting out the source (about the time we start getting prompted to hit next) we can check our open folders (to the new guysÂ….do not click through the msi options , leave the install running we are going to grab some temp stuff)
+ You should now see a folder in “%windir%\Downloaded Installations” called “macromedia flash 8”…from this folder copy data1.cab and Macromedia Flash 8.msi to a safe location (I left FL_Client_Installer.exe alone since I’m going to run all msi’s separately, also I don’t need to run the kb update)
+ In “local settings\temp” you should see a folder named after it’s product code ({2BD5C305-1B27-4D41-B690-7A61172D2FEB}) copy all 4 of the .msi to your safe location
+ You should have all your source and may now cancel the install that is still running
What now
At this point you just need to script/setup the way it will run. There are a few “usual suspect” settings you can tweak…AgreeToLicense, Allusers…etc but the important one is missing. There doesn’t appear to be a property or reg setting for your CLP license. Apparently Macromedia is just starting to get on board with the Adobe CLP process. After install you still get prompted by the same activation/registration screens as the retail versions. However, you can unplug the PC and enter in the serial and it will work (so it appears to not actually be checking the serial). There are a couple of activation and registration files that are created (somewhere in alluser appdata) but I have not yet figured out a way to manipulate it for full automation (dear macromedia dev guys….we like things that make us go), simple file copies from a registered PC do not work.
To get around the Serial Number issue, install the product, run the app and enter the serial number. Then create a transform for the MSI and add the following files from the PC you installed app the on-
All Users profile, application data, macromedia, licensing, 'All files"
You will no longer be prompted for the Serial number on first launch. See link below.
