A side note on Streets & Trips 2006 with the GPS device...

The msi by default installs the drivers for the device, and this works fine in XP, however it did not work in Windows XP for Tablet PC's.

The CD includes the drivers independent of the install, I had to install those drivers manually for our handful of tablet users.

#1 - Combine the 2 CDs this way:
Copy all contents from CD2 to CD1 but do not use the files in the root directory of CD2

To save space, you can delete:
CD1\Streets\MSMap\redist\IE6 (70MB)
CD1\PStreets (38MB)


#2 - Instead of using the Office 2003 CIW, edit the setup_ST.INI by adding the following to the proper [sections]:

ROOTDRIVE=C:ADDLOCAL=ALL

[Display]
Display=reduced
===========================

Explanations:
ROOTDRIVE=C:\ ===> Forces install to C: drive even if you more space on a local D: drive
ADDLOCAL=ALL ===> Tells it to install everything local including the maps.

[Display]
Display=reduced ===> same thing as using the /QR switch on MSIexec.exe


To launch install, run SETUP.ST.EXE

Use the Office 2003 resource kit tool Custom Installation Wizard to create the transform file for the program.

The command to execute the silent install is:

setup_st.exe TRANSFORMS="\\servername\Microsoft Streets & Trips 2006\streets\MSMap\install.mst" /qb-
