Note

Using the Zenworks version of Flexera AdminStudio 11.0, I was able to capture and create an MSI of this legacy application in order to push it out to new computers.

Follow the AdminStudio 11 directions to setup a machine for Remote Repackaging. My "best practice" is to setup two VMs, one with the full AdminStudio 11 install (and Zenworks Application Virtualization) and one as a clean base for capturing the installers that I snapshot right after I get Remote Repackaging setup, and then revert after every attempt. I typically do a generic "Application Packaging" folder and share and map that, and then just stick any application I need to repackage in a "Applications to Package" folder, makes for a nice one time setup if I do it before the snapshot.

Copy the contents of the SureTrak installation media to a directory on a network share (this can be on and shared from your "master" AdminStudio machine). Also put the SureTrak 3.0c patch in here if available.

Map the share containing the SureTrak installer as a drive on the Remote machine (already done if following my "best practices".)

Open the Remote Repackaging Wizard and follow the prompts, for this package I used Installation Monitoring. Browse to the Setup.exe file, make note, its NOT the one at the root of the installation media, it is under the Suretrak folder. If you got the right one it should show InstallShield in the Product Name field. If you want to integrate the SureTrak 3.0c patch, click the Edit Setup List link. You will see the first setup you browsed to, click the New link and browse to the setup for the patch, ours was named "SureTrak 3.0c Upgrade.exe". You should now see both setup files in the list, make sure the main application setup is at the top (it should be since we pre-selected it). Click OK to accept the two setup files.

You can edit the fields under Product Information but note, you do NOT want to put any letters in the version field, it won't let you here, but if you do it later it will break things. Click Next to continue.

On this page you are selecting where you want to store the captured files and settings, I again choose to store it on a network drive, perhaps in a new folder under "Applications Packaging" called "Packages". Click the Start button to begin the installation/capture process. If you aren't on the ball sometimes the upgrade setup will kick off after the Suretrak installer and cover up the installer window. You can Alt+Tab until you get to the SureTrak 3.0b setup and go through all the steps to install. *One thing I noticed was when I installed the tutorial as part of this process, it always seemed to fail packaging, so I have opted not to include the tutorial, since most of our users either know the software or have a mentor to train them, and the manual IS part of the install and is a comprehensive PDF.* After you finish the SureTrak setup, go ahead and walk through the upgrade setup until its complete. Before you click "Done", go ahead and change/delete any the shortcuts and folder names to reflect the fact that 3.0c is installed if you performed the upgrade or if you want Zenworks to handle all the shortcuts. You can also disable shortcuts within Repackager, but you can't change their names (that I've noticed anyways). Once you click Done it will analyze all the file and registry changes and prepare the project files. Click Finish and it is supposed to automatically launch Repackager, but due to UAC it never does on my system (this doesn't hurt anything).

Now open the Repackager shortcut and click Open on the file menu, then navigate to where you put the "Packages" folder or whatever you named it and open the project file.
