This is all Windows 2k stuff but it ought to work for other flavors of Windows. I created a little batch file to automate all of this stuff and call the installer with the switches mentioned in other posts.
To get rid of the annoying realsched.exe that loads on startup (this will disable RealPlayer's ability to autoupdate so be careful with this one). Here's the reg hack:
Ok next we'll setup the link speed stuff that you see in RealPlayer under Tools -> Options -> Connection (Pane). There are two settings Normal Bandwidth and Maximum Bandwidth that we're interested in. Here are the keys which can control these two settings:
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Classes\Software\RealNetworks\RealMediaSDK\6.0\Preferences\Bandwidth]
@="262200"
The default value (@) in the keys can have the following possible numerical values (only paste the numerical values [of course] and not the "-" or the text which is there only for your reference):
28800 - 28.8K Modem
57600 - 56.6K Modem
65536 - 64k ISDN
115200 - 128k Dual ISDN
262200 - 256k DSL/Cable
393216 - 384k DLS/Cable
1544000 - T1/LAN
10485800 - 10Mbps LAN
To get rid of start menu, desktop and quick launch shortcuts delete the following files (new users won't get them if realsched.exe is disabled as mentioned above):
\Documents and Settings\All Users\Start Menu\RealPlayer*.*
\Documents and Settings\All Users\Desktop\RealPlayer*.*
%APPDATA%\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Quick Launch\RealPlayer*.*
To get rid of Real's favorites that the installer drops:
\favorites\RealPlayer*.*
\favorites\Links\RealPlayer*.*
