When we first migrated accounts from AppDeploy to ITNinja, we calculated the points that one would get for forum posts as points on would get for Q&A activity, points one would get for each software tip posted, etc. However, there was fear we might break the game here if we gave full credit for all past activity from before the point system was established. We'd either have had to make the point goals for awards much higher (frustrating new members) or start off with a large number of members immediately eligible for rewards which would have blown our budget. The result was that we awarded points for past activities on a curve, with the couple of top members getting a lot of points and (due to the very high number of points a few members had) considerably less as you fell out of the top 5, top 10, top 50, etc.

We've collected feedback, rechecked the numbers and have decided to recalculate those original points awarded for AppDeploy contributions. The new conversion is a flat 50% value on all AppDeploy contributions (no curve or adjustments). As such, our more active old school AppDeploy members will notice a sizable bump in points as of 6/5/13.

Of course all contributions are valued and so I'm happy we are able to correct this situation for a better outcome. I hope this helps better satisfy those who may have felt the original calculations were too conservative.
