Blind Installing of Software

Wouldn't it be nice just to hit a button and the software goes to all your users in a group or all your computers in group? 


We thought the same thing, so we always script out our installs and add them to a KACE Script.  If you use the MSI installer options, you can deploy it quietly too.  We do this often for backend software.

  • This is how we do it with important apps. The managed installation does not provide any checks or dependencies. Some MSI installers simply terminate processes and then install themselves. This is often, in our case, not desired. Via script I can check if application XYZ is running and then skip the machine. - Photographix 1 year ago
    • You do know that you can use MIs with more than one file, right? Just create a .zip file with all the dependencies inside (in the root of the file) and it will get decompressed on deploy.
      And you don't need to actually run an exe or msi, you could run a batch script (or similar) with all the necessary steps to properly deploy a given software.
