Different License Types for the KACE Systems Management Appliance (K1000) 

Description 

This article describes licensing available with the KACE Systems Management Appliance (SMA)

Resolution 

There are two main types of licenses

§  Regular license for computers and servers

§  Asset Pack license for other devices

Discovery is always free and consumes no licenses.

You must choose to provision the computer or device before it begins providing the full inventory and other functionality. Once it is provisioned for management, it consumes a license as follows:

·         iOS, Android managed with KACE Cloud Mobile Device Manager [2]

     [1]  Any item manually added as an Asset or imported  using the WSAPI

Licensing Terms:
K1000 license agreements entitle administrators to manage a specified number of Managed Computers, Monitored Servers, and Assets.

Asset Pack

·        Asset Packs are sold in bundles of 250 devices.

·        You many mix the devices. For example:

o   100 Chromebooks, 50 printers, 100 AirWatch managed devices

o   You may purchase multiple bundles.

[1] For assets on which you can neither install an agent nor manage agentlessly, but you still want to add to the SMA for limited management. The assets that are created and managed using the Assets (only) component of the SMA do not count toward the license limit.

[2] KACE Mobile Device licensing is sold separately. It is fully integrated with SMA but does not consume an agentless SMA license. The KACE SMA is integrated with Airwatch and Google Gsuite for inventory and user information.

  • Note that we recently relaxed the requirement of ordering agentless licensing only in bundles of 250 nodes. You can now order them just as needed whether that is 1, 57, 20098 or - whatever. - KenG 3 years ago
