Admin password not working only in console
Hello,
I inherited a KACE installation. I tried to login to the admin UI with the "admin" user and the given password and it works. I tried to access the console with the same user and password and it does not work. Is there anything that I can check apart from being sure to input the correct password? Are they actually the same user, the same entity or not? Thanks!

there are two levels:
1. in adminui/ and userui/ you have the user database you can enter into the appliance or import from an LDAP. The admin-user is always a local user.
2. the console (for the underlying BSD) Here you have two users as customer: 1. netdiag with the passowrd netdiag, which allows you to do many troubleshooting steps and 2. konfig with the password konfig which allows you to do an initial configuration if you do not have a DHCP server in your network. These two users are only avaiable on the local console and not over the network and also not in the UI.

Hi Nico, thanks. So basically I cannot access the console with the user "admin" (local user)? - kappa85 4 years ago

Thanks. I tried with netdiag to perform some network troubleshooting and despite PING is one of the command listed there, it seems I cannot run it, I get an error. Can you guess why? - kappa85 4 years ago

no. next time it would be helpful if you add the error message instead of "an error", so we can see, WHICH error occurs and then we can determine the real issue behind it.
If you have additional issues, I suggest to open a SR with KACE support - Nico_K 4 years ago
