Allowing a version of "Not Allowed" software once again
I am having a heck of a time.
At some point last year our company banned the use of Zoom. We consequently used the "not allowed" in the software catalog to prevent launching this. I will say, I did not preform this action but when requested more recently to remove the block, I went in to the soiftware catalog and unchecked the check box next to "Not allowed".
This seems to have done nothing for the previously blocked people. I have a feeling all this has done is prevent further blocking for new people. But even after a check in which "edited" the kws_blacklist file(I know because of the Date modified time) this person is still getting the blocked popup from Kace.
How do I remove this block for people who had been blocked previously?
Thanks for any help you all can offer!

You should be able to do that by removing the tick from the “not allowed” box in that Software Inventory item. Just bear in mind it will take a while for the change to reach every agent.

Thanks BarKode - This is what I thought but I am having trouble with verifying if this is the case. I unchecked the box in Kace over three days ago. I would think that once the device "inventories" it would update the list on the device. This is not the case. I also thought that after it was unchecked, that the next time Kace wrote to the blacklist file it keeps, it would remove the unchecked application, and this is also not the case.
If you are thinking it takes a while to reach all agents, which action is it that makes it "take a while"? I am having a hard time locating more information about removing the "not allowed"/blacklist in Kace's documentation, only about adding them.
I have a ticket in now, so hopefully I can figure out what to do with Quest's help. - Michelle.ashby 3 years ago
