Applications virtualized using App-V

Hi All,

I've started studying about App-V recently. I've read that App-V is used in most of the enterprises for virtualizing applications.

I wanted to know which applications are virtualized using App-V (for example MS Office, SQL Server Management Studio etc).

Regards,

PS.

In order to understand which applications can be virtualized & which cannot, you first have to understand the limitations of AppV. Basically there are two major versions of AppV 4.X & 5.X. Every limitation below is for AppV 4.X. Have mentioned as not a limitation for the ones which can be virtualized in AppV 5.X.

Boot Time Services - Applications which has Boot Time Services cannot be virtualized.

Drivers - Application which has Drivers cannot be virtualized.

DCOM - Application which has DCOM cannot be virtualized.

AppV 4.X - SFT Size more than 4 GB. This is not a limitation with AppV 5.X.

AppV 4.X - Applications which has Shell Extensions cannot be virtualized. This is not a limitation with AppV 5.X.

Any application which highly integrates with the Operation System such as Anti-Virus cannot be virtualized.

For more refer to AppV Official Documentation.

Though you can virtualize some of the applications which has the above using advanced techniques. For example, Application with Drivers: Except Drivers the rest can be virtualized, Drivers has to be made available locally.

Note: Office & SQL Management Studio that you have specified can be successfully virtualized.
