Changing the name and domain of our K1. How this affects the existing agents on my network.

Hi Guys,

We have migrated to a new domain in our company and I am getting ready to change the K1 name accordingly.

I assume there are a number of issues that will come up with this task

Firstly

I assume All the config files of agents on the network will be suddenly be pointing to a nonexistent Kace server.

This will cut all links between all clients and the K1...... is my understanding.

DO I have to uninstall and reprovision all the agents company-wide?

How do I do this most efficiently with as little downtime as possible?

Is there a recommended method for this type of task by Kace

Has anyone done this before?

Thank you.

Create a DNS CNAME record until all the Agent's amp.conf file is updated to the new appliance information.

  • I assume you are saying... as an example...

if the K1 is called "myk1.local" which has an existing "A record in DNS"....
Then...I should create a CNAME record with the old K1 name pointing to a
new "A record" with the new K1 name
Then delete the old "A record", Correct.
    If so.......
will the new name trickle down to the config files on clients automatically after an inventory
