computer identification
I am trying to understand how computers keep their identity in kbox. For example I have a couple machines that received name changes to the machine and now they have 2 computers in kbox. One which no longer checks in and the renamed one which checks in.
Any information on this would be very helpful for me.

Hi,
KACE uses their KUID (hardware/software combo)as a method of ensuring duplicates don't happen. Now if you just renamed the machines there shouldn't have been any duplicates. On the next inventory cycle they should have just updated the DB with the new name. Now if you reimaged them then that is another issue. When you reimage you have to delete the old name to reclaim a license and you will then only have one record under inventory for that box BUT in assets there will be two entries, one for the old machine and one for the new.
Double check you are also using the latest server and agent at that issue may have been resolved with a bug fix.
