Considering upgrade to Kace 8.0

I am considering moving Kace 8.0 into production at my organization. Besides the glaring white interface which I know everyone hates what other feedback or issues have arisen?

  • We ran a test instance for a few weeks and didn't have any upgrade (from 7.2.x) issues. Just upgraded our production environment this morning and starting to get a few of our early adopter ring of machines updated. So far no issues. - joncutler 6 years ago
  • 8.0 is great, highly recommend to upgrade. Just keep in mind you want to have your agents at least at version 7.1 since older version might end up orphaned. Also, check the release notes to see if you find anything there that might hold you from updating among the known issues: https://support.quest.com/technical-documents/kace-sma/8.0/release-notes/5 - Josh_H 6 years ago
  • the agent location is moved to quest (so the binaries are in c:\program files (x86)\quest\kace etc), so if you are using custom (hard coded) scripts you need to change them. If you are using the scripting engine of KACE and you are using the variables everything is fine.
And your interface issue will be solved soon, you will have a few alternatives to that (and tbh I like the white one really! - Nico_K 6 years ago
  • We have seen a number of customers experience performance issues when moving to 8.0, yet to hear what the root cause is, but the main functionality is pretty solid. - Hobbsy 6 years ago
  • So far so good for us as well. I've seen a few things about performance issues but mine seems to be fine. The white interface was a huge shock at first. I noticed some of the text seems larger as well. Some of the screens with tables don't fit as nicely in the browser window anymore. Overall I'd recommend moving forward. - getElementById 6 years ago
