Cost of imaging solutions
Don't know about you but I think the cost of the imaging tools has risen hugely recently.
Symantec seem to have most of the big players and changed their licencing to per workstation. This cost is then passed on to us.
For 700 users Symantec is 20K (euro) and as far as I'm concerned thats 10 times too much!, especially when they don't include any support with that.
As far as Altiris is concerned - thats twice as much for their client management tools (in fairness it does a lot more -but still!).
Does anyone know of an imaging product that is reasonable in price and functionality? I don't need software deploy or metering just imaging and decent imaging at that. I need to be able to boot multiple pc's from floppy (or maybe pixe) and image from a network share.
thanks for your help
Rory

I use RIS quite often in our 500 user organization. We use ghost too for the remote sites but RIS for any site with a server. I prefer it actually over ghost. Easier to get a image goin and deploying is simple.
I'm not sure what you mean by one PC at a time? You can deploy to many PCs at a time. I'd say at least 4 or 5 at a time as long as it's 500+ mhz.
