Are you talking about an application admin and user, or all Windows (local) admins and users?

  • you can try revoking the 'list' rights on the shortcuts for the Users AD group. The administrators should then still be able to see them. - pjgeutjens 12 years ago

keep the shortucts in "%appdata%\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu\Programs"

which will get display to that perticular user only.......

u can do this through script also....

You could do a pair of transforms - one for the individual with admin access, and one for the user with non-admin access.

I am doing the setup capture and converting from an exe to msi

Comments:
  • that does not exclude the use of transforms as suggested, assuming you know at install time whether you want to install the full or user version. - pjgeutjens 12 years ago

Deploy the shotcuts using GP, or best start using APPV. :)
