Installed shield capable to create appv & thin appv package it means it’s creates / converts into compatible technology? What exactly difference between adminstudio & appv products? Install shield built components what is limitation

  • Creating App-V / ThinApp with Installshield means that you create the package once and then build for each technology (MSI/App-V/ThinApp).

As far as I'm aware there aren't any limitations, apart from the standard App-V limitations on what cannot be sequenced (I guess some apply for ThinApp too).

The technologies in the background are different between MS Sequencer and Installshield - the output should be comparable.

If you're looking at buying the Virt Pack for Installshield they may come in and give you a demo and you can grill the rep then. - dunnpy 11 years ago

Flexera Install Shield is the tool you can use to create MSI packages from your programmers output/code. You van not do repackaging with InstallShield only.

If you want to go into repackaging you have to use Flexera AdminStudio. THis is the tool that captures the differences on your machine after the install of a legacy setup and buils an installshield projectfile (IRP/ISM). This you can edit, customize and build into an msi.

If you want to have support for virtualization (AppV4.6; AppV5.0, Thinapp, Xenapp) you need the optional Virtualization Pack.

For more information on the features of the flexeraproducts you can webvisit them.
