Installing software in Offline mode`

We want to install an upgrade to our VPN client for our VPN users with Kace.  But the catch is we would like to deploy while they are not connected to VPN and thus not communication the KACE appliance for the install.  Is there a way to push the software and the install script to the client beforehand and then execute while offline?  I can't seem to put together the right sequence of events to make it work.

Have you tried setting up the installation as an offline KScript, that way the agent should download the payload first and then as connectivity to the KACE box is not required for the script to run, it should run offline at the time you defined in your script schedule

Comments:
  • I have the script setup as offline kscript and I have the "allow run while disconnected" enabled. But do I just hit Save and then since I only have it targeted to my machine it will download it and run on whatever schedule I create ? And does "Run now" mean it will push and execute no matter what I have set in the script? - cterry195 4 years ago
    • Offline Script means, that during the script is running no Agent Connection is needed.
Under Settings | Provisioning | Communication Settings you can see how often a script update is done. This is a scheduled task to check if there are new scripts avaiable or changed. (from the view of the client)
Also before a script is running and agent connection is avaiable it checks if this script is updated.

If you hit "Run Now" the script is triggered directly. This is used for testing or "emergency runs". - Nico_K 4 years ago
