Itunes 12.2.2.25 deployment - Installs correctly, but error happens when trying to access preferences..

Hello,

I am at my wits' end right now. I have been working for hours on this problem and I just can't get around it.

I am trying to deploy itunes in our environnement, so I pretty much used the script on this page : http://www.itninja.com/software/apple/itunes/11-1184#tips
The only difference is that I also included the Bonjour service in my batch file.

Everything installs fine, no issues there. My issue is when I try to access the File>Preferences menu. It takes FOREVER to pop-up and until it does, the computer becomes unresponsive. By forever, I mean 2-3 minutes. I tried on more than one computer, and it happens on every one.

I tried to install Itunes with the executable from the website and I don't have this problem. I tried to change the order of the "msies", it doesn't change a thing. I tried to deploy the software without any customizations, it still doesn't work. At first, I was copying preference files in Local and Roaming folders, I tried without it, it does not change anything. Same thing with my .mst

I use the REBOOT=REALLYSUPPRESS property, and I thought maybe it could give me problems. But even when I don't use it, I get the same result. I am about to go crazy with this!!!

DId anyone encounter something similar? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

  • I just came back to say this problem seems random. I still have no idea why it's acting this way, though...thanks for your time ! - SaraLily 9 years ago

Probably not much of a solution but you could try holding down ctrl + Shift and then click on iTunes. this opens in safe mode, close it and try opening it again and see if the problem is resolved. I'm working through this same issue and still haven't found a resolution.
