Lync Client 2013
Hello,
I am having a hard time with a issue on network and I could really use a Hand. I am attempting to deploy Lync 2013 to computer in my network but the systems that have been deployed from the KACE system will not install the software. IF I remove the MS office 2013 32 Bit. We are not comfortable with office 2010 to do a full deployment but Lync is brand new for us and we are installing the latest and greatest.
So here is what happens. The machines will start the installation and then it will error out a 1603 failure. I have run this with the highest admin right but it is showing denied.
A fix we did find is to completly remove office 2010 and reinstall it, but for 500 systems there has to be a better answer.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!!!!
Just for information. I am using a Kimage to deploy to the machines and we are deploying lync via GPO.
Thanks

What version of Office 2010 are you running? - -mrk!!- 11 years ago

We are using MS office 2010 Professional Plus. 32 Bit - mmeyer@vu.com 11 years ago

We looked over the event viewer once the install was completed and the only items we found were that one of the msi install messages showed a 1024 message and the other showed and 1603 message. We are planning to run procmon and do further tests.
Items were tried include.
Repair of office from the disk.
Repair tool available. Windows removed the office diagnostic tool in office 2010
Removing and reinstalling the .net frame work and windows installer 4.5
Ensured there is no failure of the MSDTC service.
I also did a file by file comparision to ensure all files are copied as then should be..
No luck. We have opened a ticket with Microsoft but it is odd that the only connection are machines imaged by our KACE 2100. I looked at the logs from the server and deployments and found not errors in the image.

No we found the problem was located in the C:\Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\OFFICE14\1033. we renamed the file and when we installed lync it rebuilt the file and installed with now further issue. This also did not disrupt our Office 2010 installation - mmeyer@vu.com 11 years ago

What file was causing the problem for you? We are experiencing the same problem. - Sean85 11 years ago

Actually I found the answer for us. I had to rename the C:\Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\OfficeSoftwareProtectionPlatform folder. When the Lync installer runs it will rebuild this folder and not error out.
