There is a way to do it. The system.ini file must be edited with the new computer name before the network stack is loaded. I have a small program that was writen by a friend of mine that automatically generates a random computer name and stuffs it in the system.ini file.
If you are interested in details write me at jesus2xs@yahoo.com. I will forward the program to you with a sample autoexec.bat that changes computer name.
