MSDE 8.0 installation via Altiris
Hi all,
Not sure if this is the right place to post or if this has been answered before (I am new to the whole world of app deployment).
Basically we are trying to deploy MSDE to a large number of computers silently with supressed reboots. We have been able to deploy and kick off the installer sucessfully, and when the user reboots the installation continues.
The problem is that if an ordinary user logs on, they dont have admin rights to the local machine, the installation cant finish, and the machine goes haywire (a number of error messages and the desktop does not operate).
If I log in as administrator, there is a brief message about configuring control panel, the desktop loads. I can then log off administrator and log on as the restricted user again and everything is back to normal.
Is there any way to avoid this issue?
We are deploying the app with Altiris if that helps.
Thanks in advance for your help!!
