Office 2019 volume license patching

With Microsoft going to click-to-run for all 2019 Office products, will KACE be able to patch them?  I'm not referring to the Office 365 installation but the volume license version of Office 2019.

Edit:  I found this response from Microsoft but it still does not explain whether KACE will be able to provide patches.  Is Microsoft making 3rd-party patching obsolete?  https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/deployoffice/office2019/update

  • I agree but they're setting it up to update just like Office 365 with update channels. We cannot have our computers pull updates directly from Microsoft as it will kill our bandwidth. We don't want to use SCCM as that's the whole reason for the KACE product.   • I dont think they will release KB updates, as swalker mentioned, this is now C2R and you will likely need to use the C2R methodologies.

    You could specify a internal location to check for updates via the XML, and only update that source when you want to update the clients. A lot of the config is now in the XMLs.

  • If KACE doesn't have an answer to this we may have to ditch their product. We rely heavily on replication shares for close to 50 locations that do not have ultra-fast connections. Even having a single location configured through XML does not solve our problem. Microsoft is only going to rely more on C2R technology. - swalker804 5 years ago

    • For political reasons we cannot. Of course that's what Microsoft wants you to use. KACE is supposed to offer an alternative for patching. I'd like to see what their alternative is for C2R products. - swalker804 5 years ago
