Program Compatibility Message

Hello All,

I am getting a Program Compatibility Message when trying to install Microsoft Virtual PC 2007 SP1 on Windows 7:

I understand from the message that the setup is not compatible with this version of Windows but when I try to install the same source media on another Windows 7 machine, I dont get this message and the application installs fine.

Program Compatibility Assistant Service is disabled on both the machines and the setting for "Turn Off Program Compatibility Assistant" is same on both the machines.

Could anyone let me know the reason of this difference?

Thanks.

Have you tried applying AppCompat settings? Like run in Windows XP SP3 etc?

Your other computer might have different updates which allow it to run.

  • I tried with all the AppCompat settings but it failed to install.
Do you have any idea which update might have allowed it to run on another machine? - deepjyotii 8 years ago
