Script to delete all desktop shortcuts other than Windows ones?

We have a ton of post-install tasks that I want to remove desktop shortcuts for. To make it simple, instead of calling out to delete each individual one, I was wondering if there was a script to delete all public desktop shortcuts other than Windows ones (Recyling Bin mainly).

You should be able to delete c:\users\public\desktop\*.*  or c:\users\public\desktop\*.lnk
