Will the script run?

Hi All,

I have been tasked from my organization to deploy O365 to the whole organization 500+ PCs/laptops. I have already tested software deployment and scripted (KACE Online Script) installation and I found that using a scripted installation will work best for our environment.

My only concern is that the script might not run on all computers based on when they last checked in. What's the parameter that will tell me if a script will run on a computer or not? Is it the last time that the computer checked in? Is it when the agent will check for scripting changes?

The manual states the following:

Scripts that run only when a target device is connected to the appliance. Online KScripts run at scheduled times based on the appliance clock. You can create these scripts using the scripting templates.

create a smart label for machines without O365 and have the script associated with this smart label and deploy it every few hours during the work week using the cron scheduler.

Note: force an inventory when the install is done so the machine will drop the smart label.

your client checks for scripts to run based on your settings for each orgs "scripting update" (I have multiple orgs).

If you have just one org you will have only one setting for this

  • So the script will wait to be downloaded and executed for an hour before failing? Or am I understand it in wrongly? - Myth0S 7 years ago
    • my settings the scripts will run within 15minutes after execting - SMal.tmcc 7 years ago
      • That explains it in a better way. So my script will run within an hour after click Run Now. Do I understand it correct?

Is there any chance it will fail because of a timeout? And by timeout I mean that I there any chance that the agent won't request for a script update in an hour? Have seen anything like that happening? - Myth0S 7 years ago
      • that could happen due to load settings are not allowing enough machines to update concurrently to get them all done within the hour time window. How long does it take the install to run? - SMal.tmcc 7 years ago
  • I would say it roughly takes around 20 minutes. Uninstallation of previous version + Installing O365. - Myth0S 7 years ago
