Software installation trouble
Hi guys,
I have an issue with my software deployment. In my distribution list, some of the software are not deployed automatically when people click on Run now.
For example, VLC and Notepad ++. VLC is deployed automatically and Notepadd++ is not. Users don't get any notififications, me neither. I don't understand why it's not working and your help would be gladly accepted.
I'm currently running Kace 10.0.290 on my server. and the deployed agent's version is 10.0.113

First off, it isn't recommended that you use the Run Now button on managed installs frequently. Clicking that button forces an inventory on all of the machines targeted by the managed install, so depending on the number of machines that's adding a lot of load to the appliance. The better practice is to save the managed install and then force an inventory on the individual machine.
After adding a machine to the managed installs, do they appear on the machine's inventory page under Activities, Managed Installs list? If not, then verify that the software that is tied to the managed install is set to deploy to that machines OS version.
If you add a machine to just one managed install does it always work? In your example, if you only add a machine to Notepad++ does it get installed?
Are the managed installs set to run anytime or do they have restrictions (with user logged off, specific deployment windows, etc.)?

Hi Chuck, thanks for your answer.
I let users install what they want/need on their computer through the download page.
I checked on my test computer in the inventory page and nothing shows up in activities or managed installs.
I've made sure that there is no restrictions on the OS version. and all my packages are set to deploy at anytime.
On my test computer I was able to install some of the faulty software by recreating the packages. I'll investigate more and keep you informed.
Even after recreation of managed install, i'm still unable to provide GanttProject.
Nothing is downloaded on user's machine, neither shown in activites. - Arystos 4 years ago-
If you have added a machine to the managed install list and it doesn't show up as needing to be installed, then either the computer already has it installed, or there is something wrong with how you are adding machines to the managed install. - chucksteel 4 years ago
