Unable to upgrade previous App-V packages

Hello

Im currently using App-V 4.6 SP2 Client and App-V packages are installed using msi (standalone method without streaming). The app-v packages contain msi and we have included the upgrade of previous versions (which might be either App-v or traditional msi packages).

The problem being faced is the new version fails to install in most cases suring upgrade as the shortcut of previous version is launched (the app-v msi's are customized such that they will uninstall only if the app is not in use).

Is there any way to tackle this problem. (a way to shutdown the previous version if already found running ?)

Not that I'm aware off, the only thing you can do is run an SFTTRAY.EXE /EXIT command, but that will close all App-V applications that are running.

What is your deployment tool? Can you set something to run when a users isn't logged on?

  • We use SCCM for deployment, however running when user's isnt logged is even though seems valid is not useful as we cant use it, as users might install it from RAP as well. - Sujit J 11 years ago
