Updating Windows 10 1903 to 1903 via KACE (New Process?)
Question regarding installing the Windows 10 1909 Feature Update. I've got the pre-1909 process down pat (use the MediaCreationTool to download the ISO, extract, upload to KACE, File-Synchronize, and run a script to manage the install). I attempted that with 1909 and would up right back where I started with 1903. That's when I did some digging and learned that the process has completely changed.
Apparently, starting with 1909 the majority of the update was installed with any Cumulative Update installed on or after September, 2019. All it needs is a kick to jump start the process. This process can either be kicked off my installing "KB4517245 Feature Update via Windows 10 v1909 Enablement Package" via Windows Update or WSUS. So far I haven't found a way to manually download this, nor have I found it lurking within the KACE patch catalog (at least as far as I can tell).
Has anyone had any success deploying 1909 via KACE? I've seen a work-around involving downloading a CAB and using DISM, but that's a workaround for 1909. I'm looking for something that will work the same way each time, well at least until Microsoft decides to the change the process again.

I have not, but I understand that this function will be included in the next KACE release. The next version is going to Beta next week. - piobaireachd 4 years ago

Update: The beta of the next release does have this function and it works great. It will not update an feature release older than 1809, but it will update 1809 to 1903 and 1903 to 1909. I've tested this a a number of machines in my environment. - piobaireachd 4 years ago
