Waves MaxxAudio K2000

Hey guys, I'm building our Windows 10 image on a hypervisor and deploying it with the K2000.  We got in a few new Optiplex 7450 aio machines and I'm running into a strange problem.  Looks like Dell uses an audio driver/utility called Waves MaxxAudio.  When we first deployed my test image to the new 7450's, the driver was installed with no problem.  Now though, it is not getting installed during the build and I have no idea why.

I was thinking it my be getting the UAC settings when it joins the domain, then that might mess up the driver install, but I tested building the machines without joining the domain at all and the driver utility was not installed.

I've downloaded the audio driver package and extracted it directly into the k2000 driver feed in case there was a driver update that caused the issue.

I've removed the entire driver package for the system, and reinstalled the driver package hoping that would fix it.

When I go into the system, I can see that it drops the application into program files, and when I run it manually, it works fine, but it just doesn't get installed during the deployment.

My concern is that there are other drivers that are not getting installed correctly.  I can see the AMD control panel, so it seems to be ok.

Do you guys have any ideas?  I know I can add a script that says if exist run the msi, but I would rather not have 1 off post install tasks that I have to keep an eye out for.

Thanks in advance.

  • Any luck with this issue? I'm having a similar issue with the newer Latitude E7480's and the Precision 7520 that use the MaxxAudio driver. - HarborIT 7 years ago
  • No, I have a ticket in with KACE, but it looks like there might be a problem with the newer audio drivers. We only have one model that uses this driver, so I have a script that maps a network location, then installs the driver from Dell with the /s /i switches to install the driver that way.

Now that KACE is separated from Dell, they can't do driver tests on the Dell hardware, and I am not sure who to contact regarding the driver not installing properly with DISM.

I'll reply to the ticket and include this topic and let them know you are having problems with the audio drivers for those models as well. Hopefully they have a contact person within Dell that can help us out. - johnbags401 7 years ago

Hello everyone.  I was working with KACE support and Dell Pro support and there is a new driver released that fixes this problem.

For the 7450 AIO, here is the new driver.

I'm not sure about the other systems you listed in the comments, but hopefully they have a new driver available as well.  Just unpack the driver and overwrite the audio drivers in your driver share.

A new .cab file should be coming, but I believe they are released quarterly.
