what exactly the "source Files"

HI friends, have confusion about "Source FIles", what does exact meanig of this"? Googled but hasnt got satisfaction answer, is this a files which is in .msi (database), or it is something which it reffers to,( Source files means the files which already installed on the target machine? c:\program files?????????confusingggggggggggggg) it would be great help if u provide your experience, instead of links, i hope u understand me, thank in advance

Hi,

If I am not mistaken you meant source media files is it? source files are somthing which is given to us for packaging ,it can be a setup.exe or a MSI or MSI/MST etc..You can say there are the input for us for repackaging,hope it makes sense.

As Sumit explained above, source files can be setup.exe, MSI, MSI/MST and it can also be a set of loose files which you need to package.

If you mean SOURCELIST property, it is a semicolon-delimited list of source paths to the application's installation package. Once the package is installed, you could find the list in registry HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Installer\Products\<ID>\SourceList.
