Deployment Tip Summary

Adobe offers _Adobe Application Manager Enterpriese Edition)_ to build a Windows Installer package for InDesign CS5. You can change the UILevel property from 2 to 3 to automate the installation with just a progress bar displayed (/qb). Note that there are some other related components you may wish to install that may be found in the "Exceptions" subfolder of the installation directory (See command line tip from lansti for details).

Command Line
Download the InDesign installer from Adobe.com

Use Adobe Application Manager Enterprise Edition (http://www.adobe.com/devnet/creativesuite/enterprisedeployment.html) to build the installation --> create a MSI installer.

Commandline:
msiexec /i "InDesignCS5_5.msi" /qn

This build will install Adobe Extention Manager CS5.5, Adobe utilities CS5.5, Adobe Media Encoder CS5.5, Adobe InDesign CS5.5 and Adobe Bridge CS5.1.

You will also need to install the following from the exceptions folder:

Adobe contentViewer from "..\InDesign CS5.5\Exceptions\AdobeContentViewer-mul" with commandline:
AdobeAIRInstaller.exe -silent -eulaAccepted -desktopShortcut -programMenu DesktopPreviewer.air

AdobeHelp from "..\InDesign CS5.5\Exceptions\AdobeHelp" with commandline:
AdobeAIRInstaller.exe -silent -eulaAccepted AdobeHelp.air

AdobePDFSettings from "..\InDesign CS5.5\Exceptions\AdobeHelp" with commandline:
msiexec.exe /i AdobePDFSettings10-mul.msi ADOBE_SETUP=1 /qn

Note
I've run in to situations where changing the UILevel=?? doesn't work.

Simplest workaround is to drop the "UILevel=2" row from the LaunchCondition table using ORCA.

After that, it's possible to install both interactive and silent without any hitch. And works like a charm in Altiris/Symantec SWD (or ISM).

Note

If you look in SDK, you will see that all UILevel settings have a numeric value. For instance, Basic is set at 3, while No Cancel button is 32. So if you wanted to run /qb! = basic level with no cancel button, it would be a numeric value of 35... However, I tried that and it would not work.

So I did like some of the others have suggested and just create an MST and edited LaunchCondition to UILevel=3 from the default 2.

Note
In addition to the above steps (drop the line) i needed to perform these additional steps:

1. Open the MSI File with Orca.
2. Locate the Properties Table
3. Add row and Set property to LIMITUI, value=1 (this is just like using /
QB)
4. Add row again and Set property to ARPNOMODIFY, value=1 (this has to be included when using with LIMITUI)
5. Save file
