OR you can use this.

The Command line needs to be cleaned up a bit for the deleting of folders but it works the way it is as well.

Basically Silent Install of AOL 5.9, and then removes the AOL Toolbar by deleting those files and folders

To perform a silent install of AIM, you can do the following:

1. Unpack the Wise AIM59.exe using /X. ie. AIM59.exe /X c:\AIM
2. Execute the following .bat file

I had difficulty creating a snapshot for AOL Instant Messenger using WinInstall LE and judging from the forum others did too.

I have managed to create an MSI package by just calculating the delta by observation. The completed package is available on request.

Here is the delta if you wish to construct your own package:

If you copy all of the C:\Program Files\AIM directory to a folder called "Program Files\AIM" underneath your package directory it is pretty simple with WinInstall LE 2003 to add a component for each directory. Make sure you specify which files can "self-register". Finally, add your registry keys to a new component.

The package is running in production without error as of this post.

Note
Was just working on a package for AIM 5.9.3861 and noticed that it installed AOL Explorer. The command line for silent uninstallation of it is:

"C:\Program Files\AOL\Explorer\1.0\uninst.exe" /PopUpMsgBox="N" /CheckMutx="N"

Then you also have to delete the temporary installer files at C:\Program Files\AOL\Installers\AOL Explorer 1.0
