This package doesn't distibute via MSI very easily at all. The actual vendor MSI doesn't install half the files it should, and even when repackaged via snapshot the application fails to even bring up a gui - the actual WinDVD.exe process quits almost immediately. It does have support for ISS files, though, which is what you need to install a volume licensing key. Copy the CD down to a network install point, then run the following to create an answer file:
Install as normal, entering your information and license key information. Once that's done, find the install.iss file you created and copy that onto the server into the distribution folder. To install on a client computer, create a batch script (like install.bat) to run this:
If you don't want to mess with any additional pieces of software that aren't required for WinDVD 8 to run, just delete the "3rdPartyApp" folder from your installation source.
These command line switches work for the WinDVD 8 Gold Corporate Build (possibly others):
applying to the setup.exe:
• /Zâ€Â--SN:our_serial_number†serial insertion switch
• /S Silent switch
• /Vâ€ÂDWUSMANAGER=0†one of the disabling options, for the installshield update service.
So, switches to run a silent install with serial X1X0X5X5X4XABXX would be: setup.exe /Z"--SN:X1X0X5X5X4XABXX" /S.
