The above instructions worked fine for me. There are two tricky things:
1. You have to launch the "C:\Program Files\MATLAB\R2011a\uninstall\bin\win64\uninstall.exe" to perform a silent uninstall. It won't work when the "...\utils\uninstall\bin\win64\uninstall.exe" file is launched from the application media.
2. Silent install and the network license type. In the "installer_input.txt" template file a path to a .dat file is required when you use the network license type. As a matter of fact you can also use a .lic file to provide the license information.
