Install for Macromedia's combined Shockwave/MSI package - see post in related links for download link:

msiexec.exe /qb /i "I:\Core\FlashShock\mm_fl_sw_installer.msi"

Through research, I have not found any conclusive information for the requirement of getflash.exe and getflash.exe.manifest. I installed the ActiveX component installer only, deleted <getflash> files and all is well...

Note

Macromedia's Flash Player 7 MSI only works when assigned per-machine, not per-user. They didn't mention this anywhere, although it appeared to me that the .MSI was set to User mode. Assigning/Publishing to users only brought up a "you need admin privs" error box. Per-machine assign worked fine for me via Active Directory.

Security
DISABLE UPDATES
C:\Winnt\system 32\macromed\getflash.exe
Deny Execute (Flash crashes if it cannot read this)

SETTINGS
Settings are stored locally in
%userprofile%\Application Data\Macromedia\Flash Player\macromedia.com\support\flashplayer\sys\settings.sol
(Flash MX SharedObject)
use http://www.alexisisaac.net/spip/IMG/exe/SolEditInstall-6.exe
to edit object
IMHO its a massive security risk to install flash on any machine, esp laptops as it give flash objects the ability to open cameras and microphones and re-transmit the data.

Note

I found that my MSI aware zenworks app would not install on machines where the user was locked down (even though the application was assigned to the workstation and not the user) I edited the msi file using Orca (msi table editor supplied by MS) and deleted the key 'LaunchCondition\AdminUser.' It then worked a charm.

Disable updates with config file:

create a file called mms.cfg using notepad
enter this:

AutoUpdateDisable=1

then save the file in the location for your o/s -

Windows XP C:/WINDOWS/System32
Windows NT, 2K C:/WINNT/System32
Windows 95, 98, or ME C:/Windows/System
Macintosh /Application Support/Macromedia

other variables that can be used :

AutoUpdateInstallerUrl
AutoUpdateInterval
AutoUpdateSettingsUrl
AutoUpdateVersionUrl

For full info on the parameters and variables see Macromedia's documentation on flash, no idea why they hid this away but it's quite usefull if you lock down your users. [Link]
